Andy Avon

Coach Avon grew up in the city of Pittsburgh and began his lacrosse career while attending Central Catholic High School.

He then played at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. where he was a 3-year captain as an LSM.

Coach Avon is employed by the U.S. Treasury Department.  He resides in Scott Township with his wife Lindsey, daughter Addison and son Owen.

Andrew Bowers

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Coach Bowers attended The Kiski School where he played football and lacrosse. Following high school, Bowers went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in Political Science and Anthropology. He and his wife Karlee moved to Philadephia where Coach Bowers received his master’s degree in teaching.

While in Philadelphia he served as the head coach of the George Washington High School Boys Lacrosse team. Under his leadership, the team played in consecutive Philadelphia Public league championship games.  Coach Bowers was selected to coach the Philadelphia Public League All-star team in 2016.

Coach Bowers moved back to Pittsburgh in 2017 where he joined Fort Coach Middle School as a Social Studies and English teacher. He also joined the USCHS boys lacrosse program that same year. In the offseason, Coach Bowers enjoys coaching middle school basketball and Triple Threat Lacrosse. This will be his fifth season as the JV head coach.

Kyle Christie

Coach Christie was born and raised in Upper St Clair, PA where he began his lacrosse career in 6th grade. He went on to be a 4 year letter winner and captain as a goalie. Upon graduation in 2003, Coach Christie attended Indiana University (Bloomington, IN), where he received a degree in finance and played 3 years of club (MCLA) lacrosse. After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles to begin his career in commercial insurance.

Coach Christie returned to Pittsburgh in the spring of 2010 and began coaching for the USC boys team for the 2010 season. He has been with the program ever since, working with both the JV and Varsity teams, but primarily with the goalkeepers.

Coach Christie works with the family insurance business, Christie and Associates, and resides with his wife Allison and dog Charlie in Mt. Lebanon, PA.

Jack Flinter

Coach Flinter is a native of Framingham, Massachusetts where he started coaching HS lacrosse in 1985. He played football and lacrosse at Framingham South HS and played college football at Framingham State University from 1982-1985. His coaching career started 1985 at Framingham South as the freshman coach and later would be named HC from 1988-1991, earning Eastern MA coach of year honors in his final season. He coached the defensive backs at Framingham State University from 1986-1990. He coached youth lacrosse in Alexandria, VA before coaching youth players in Upper St. Clair, PA. He restarted his HS coaching career at Seton Lasalle, HS and was part of the staff that won the D2 WPIAL Championship in 2013. He was the Offensive Coordinator for PA Keystone teams that won silver and gold medals in 2016 and 2017.

He and his wife, Karen have lived Upper St. Clair since 2003 and have three grown sons, Keegan, Kellen and Karl, all USC graduates.

Gordon Lloyd

Coach Lloyd is from Pittsburgh, PA and attended Upper St. Clair High School where he played football and lacrosse.   He then went on to play lacrosse at Saint Vincent College, where he graduated in 2011.  Coach Lloyd started his coaching career in 2013 with the PSL Lacrosse Club at the youth level.  He was also an assistant coach at Seton-LaSalle High School in 2013 as well.  Coach Lloyd then transitioned to be an assistant coach at his alma mater, Upper St. Clair, starting with the 2013-14 season.

Coach Lloyd works in local government for Collier Township.  He resides in Upper St. Clair with his wife, Nicole, and two children, Luke and Layla.

Justin Mayfield

Coach Mayfield is native of St. Louis, Missouri where he was a captain for the St. Louis University High School lacrosse team.  While at SLUH, he was a team captain and 2012 state champion. Additionally, he was a US Lacrosse All-American, St. Louis Post Dispatch all-decade team member, all-state, all-metro, and all-conference player. After graduating from SLUH, Justin played division 1 lacrosse for Robert Morris University. While at RMU, Justin was a two-time captain and helped bring the school their first conference championship and NCAA tournament bid in school history. In his final season at Robert Morris, the colonials finished the season ranked #13 nationally.

Coach Mayfield has coached at multiple programs in the area, including Cannon-Mac, Mt. Lebanon, and Pine-Richland. He is also a director for the high school program at Low and Away. He is been with the Upper St. Clair program since 2019.

Coach Mayfield is currently a marketing analyst for Niche.com, a k-12 and college search platform, located in the Strip District. He lives in O’Hara Township with his wife Megan (head lacrosse coach at the Ellis School).

David Rice

Coach Rice is a 1987 graduate of Upper St. Clair High School and has lived in the township since 1974. He played lacrosse for USCHS for three seasons and earned three letters playing both defense and goalie. Coach Rice has served as a board member of the Upper St. Clair Youth Boys Lacrosse club; a coach with the Upper St. Clair elementary and middle school-aged teams; a coach with Pittsburgh Select Lacrosse travel club; and, as a board member with the Upper St. Clair High School Boys Lacrosse Boosters, including two years as president. He has been an assistant coach and de facto general manager with the Upper St. Clair High School team since 2014. 

Coach Rice has three grown children, David, Reagan and Jackson, who all graduated from Upper St. Clair High School. 

Brian Stefan

Coach Stefan grew up in Massillon, OH and played lacrosse at Jackson High School as a defenseman. He went on to play lacrosse at the University of Pittsburgh. There he played LSM, defenseman and midfield and was a captain his senior year. He is currently employed as a registered nurse at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and lives in Greentree with his wife Emily. 

Brian Yates

Coach Yates is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and was a defensive captain at Calvert Hall College High School.  While there he was selected to the MSA (Maryland Scholastic Association) Under 17 All-Star Team for the Vail Shootout and the MSA Senior All-Star Team.  In 1988 and 1989, he was named as a member of the US (Baltimore) Junior Men’s Lacrosse Team. He played at the University of Maryland on lacrosse scholarship and then for the Washington Lacrosse Club and the New York Athletic Club.

Coach Yates started his coaching experience in Upper St. Clair’s youth lacrosse program in 2008.  Since 2009 he has coached for Pittsburgh Select Lacrosse Club and he was an assistant coach on the Keystone State Games Western PA U15 Team in 2013 & 2014.  In 2013 he served as the Head Coach of the Seton La-Salle High School WPIAL Division 2 Championship Team.  Coach Yates has been the Head Coach for Upper St. Clair High School since the 2013-2014 season, a year in which he was named the WPIAL Division 1 Head Coach of the Year. 

Coach Yates is a principal owner of Pittsburgh Financial Planners, Inc, a Registered Investment Advisor, headquartered in Bridgeville.  He resides in Upper St. Clair with his wife, Aliceson, and four children, Braden, Penny, Dalton and Hudson.
